When it comes to finding that ideal property to rent in Gloucestershire, there are several key points to bear in mind. No one wants to end up settling for somewhere that’s wrong for their needs, or end up paying over the odds for somewhere they don’t like. Ending up with the wrong letting agency can also be a real pain, and no one needs that stress.

Whether your rented property is a halfway point between purchasing a new home, or if you’re long term renting, when it comes to choosing your Gloucestershire property, there are points that need to be paid attention to. From understanding your housing needs, to using the web properly, to getting the right agency, we’ll help you find the perfect property for you, and make sure you’re not settling for anything below your needs, expectations and desires. As with almost anything, a great rule of thumb before doing a thing is making sure your research and understanding is solid. You need to know the ins and outs of properties, areas, costs as well as letting agencies, and how to use the web. If you want the perfect rented property, be prepared to do a little work for it.

Know What You Need

If you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for, how are you going to find it? Within the property itself, do you want it to be pet friendly? Smoker friendly? How many bedrooms do you need? Unfurnished or furnished? Do you need storage space? Beyond the property itself, you need to look at the area. Schools, shops and parks, as well as transport links are all crucial when it comes to making the right decision. Knowing exactly what you need, means you can ask for exactly what you need, and if you don’t ask, you don’t get. If you’ve been blundering around blindly with a vague idea of two bedrooms maybe three, maybe with a bus nearby maybe, then its high time you crystallised your needs and starting finding the property that you need.

Utilise the Web

The internet is wonderful. Period. In particular, property renting and buying websites, area and local reviews, and guides and tutorials to absolutely everything. With the internet, its never been easier to do absolutely anything. As such, you need to utilise the web in your house search. Look at listings on various sites, as well as reviews of the areas and agencies, and you’ll be surprised what you might turn up. Remember to ring up, enquire and haggle though, because much like jobs, a lots of properties for rent are never listed online, and the ones you see are outdated.

Read Reviews

Basically a follow on from my last point, but reviews are wonderful too! The internet has tons of unbiased review websites, and shrewdly using these to understand agencies, areas, local amenities, local schools and facilities, can be a brilliant way to start to get to know an area, and learn what you can expect round there. You can dodge awkward or unhelpful Gloucester letting agencies, and go straight for the solid, reputable ones. Take everything you read with a pinch of salt, but if seven different reviewers on seven different sites are saying the same thing, it’s basically true.

Don’t Settle

With all this information in hand, and the power of the web at your fingertips, there’s absolutely no reason to not get the property of your absolute dreams. There’s so many different properties out there, in different areas, at different prices and with different letting agencies, that even within just Gloucestershire, you’re basically guaranteed to find the perfect place for you. Don’t give up and go for something that’s unsuitable, too expensive or inadequate, the right home is out there, it’s just a case of searching, and asking, for it correctly, and hey presto, a great new home is yours.
